Kasilof River Sockeye Fish Count

Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) - The Kasilof River sockeye salmon sonar project is located approximately 8 river miles upstream from the river mouth, just upstream of the Sterling Highway bridge. Sockeye salmon travel time to this site from Cook Inlet ranges from approximately 12-hours to 36-hours. The optimal escapement goal is 160,000 - 390,000 sockeye salmon. Beginning in 2011, ADF&G will be counting escapement at in the...

Russian River Fish Counts (Chinook, Coho, Sockeye-early run, Sockeye-late run)

Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) - The weir is located at the outlet of Lower Russian Lake, about 78 miles from the mouth of the Kenai River. It takes approximately 7 to 10 days for sockeye salmon to travel from the lower Kenai River to the weir depending on water levels. Travel times are estimates and can vary significantly from this depending on conditions. The escapement goal is 22,000 – 42,000 Early-Run sockeye salmon and...

Kenai River Chinook Fish Count

Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) - The DIDSON sonar estimates will be updated twice weekly. The daily estimates represent king salmon of all age and size classes and is expanded by 1.28 to account for late-run king salmon passing outside of the ensonified zone. This DIDSON sonar estimate is used to measure total run abundance relative to the late-run king salmon sustainable escapement goal of 15,000–30,000 fish. To view daily...
